Curves

Today I enrolled at Curves, a ladies only gym. Tomorrow morning at 9:00 I have my introductory session. After that if I am to lose weight they say I must show up for three 30 minute sessions per week. I plan to go five times per week -- every night after school. Between now and the first day of school I plan to go every morning. I have some stats on my weight and my body fat percentage but I don't know that I'm ready to share them yet. I will say that for my weight they were very surprised that my body fat percentage is as low as it is (don't mistake that to mean it is low). I also took full front and sideview pictures of myself today. I definately am not sharing them, but I will say this -- I should be ashamed to be seen with me.

I have though about joining curves but I have resorted to my personal treadmill. I hate working out in front of other people, don't know why because everyone is striving for the same goal!!!

Good Luck with Curves and don't worry how the camera made you look, I think that it adds 10 pounds anyway

Reread your last two sentences and then-----where exactly does that put me?????
Any way good luck sweetheart. I know you can do it. And there is no better time than the here and now. As my doc is fond of saying - "What, C____, you think next week or even next year will be better than today? Think again. The older you get the tougher it gets" Dr. Phaneuf is a young doctor with a no nonsence type A personality. And don't for goodness sakes ask him anything that you don't really want to know....because he shoots straight from the hip and tells it like it is. Even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
Much love and I will be praying for your mind set while you change your habits these next first weeks.

I have an old picture of me like those you took. I will never share it with anybody but I had it made up to a 2 foot by 3 foot poster for inspiration. Good luck.

It is the inside not the outside of a person that has value! Enjoy your experience but use the every other day approach, because if you do not rest your muscles in between you will look like me! I started off everyday pulled a few muscles and quit! LOL Love yourself, you are beautiful. Be kind and respectful with your quest. Perhaps, you can encourage me to join? I was thinking yoga might be best.

We often judge our worth by how we look, because people put this pressure on us. It is a bit liberating to be 50 now. When I was 38 I huffed and puffed at the gym, I rode a bike, I jogged, crawled around the track when I couldn't jog anymore. I kept my weight down by eating 700 calories a day. So now my back hurts, my hips hurt and my knees don't feel all that great either. I just can't do it anymore, so that 40 pounds that I lost, slowly crept back on. I hate it, but that is the way it is. So I applaud you and your decision. But just remember, regarless of whether you lose weight or not, you are a great person, and some of us don't care if you carry a few extra pounds. But I know, we lose it because we need to for US. And of course there are health problems we would get rid of if we lose some weight, the knees don't like all that extra weight. Catch 22, though.

I think you'll enjoy it. I belong to a Curves gym and everyone is so nice and there's no reason to feel uncomfortable there...a big plus over some of the other gyms I looked at.
