The Week Begins ....

Well, today is not my day for less excitement. At lunch time I got up from the table where I ate with my 5th grade teaching compatriots, walked across the teacher's lounge carrying a large pad of chart paper, and looked back as I was leaving the room to say ...whatever. It didn't get said. Someone had left a box in the hallway. I was moving pretty fast and when my left foot caught that box, the rest of me kept going. I don't fly any better now then I did when I was six years old. And there was no bush there to cover my fall. I landed on cold linoleum. Nothing was permanently damaged -- well, except the pad of chart paper. But I am fine -- although my right knee is a bit more colorful than usual.

Aw, sorry. At least there are no thorns in linoleum.

But this raises a question that's nagged me since I was 10. Is it a big deal who sits with whom in the fifth grade teachers lunchroom?

Doug, we are a close knit team, so fifth grade can usually be found together, but we don't necessarily keep ourselves exclusive. Today when I fell a second grade and fourth grade teacher raced to help me. We have an awesome staff.

That's the difference between working in a school, like you do, and working in a warehouse, like I do. With us, when a coworker hurts themselves, it has to be near-fatal to keep us from laughing and teasing him the rest of the day.

Hey, I never said guys were all that highly-evolved...

Nice of the second and fourth grade teachers to "cross the line" for a fifth grade teacher in need. Kinda brings a tear to the eye-- like the stroy of the good Samaratin.

Seriously, very sorry to hear about your accident and glad you are alright.

Ugh....I HATE it when people leave boxes in hallways because it is an accident waiting to happen! Tomorrow is when you will notice how badly you are hurt.

Hope you have a better Tuesday.

Whatever happened to the woman who assumed you would take her to the store?

Lori, I haven't seen her -- she doesn't even come outside. I think she sobbered up and realized she had crossed the line. Actually, I've forgiven her and would have no trouble taking her to the store, but she hightails it from my sight whenever I come in view.

Ow! That would've hurt! You take care lady. My boss sprained his right arm quite badly trying to retrieve his slippers from under the bed! Talk about hurting yourself and your pride...

I'm glad you are okay. I agree with lori - tomorrow you may feel it more.

I'm glad she asked about the neighbor - I thought about her the other day and forgot to ask, then it never entered my mind again.

Take care of yourself! Hugs. :)

UGH! I fell down the steps at my school one day -- a few years ago... No teachers around at that moment, but while MOST of the students trampled over me in their rush to get to the next class before the bell rings (totally understandable!) a few did stop to help me up and make sure I was okay! Then proceeded to ask me for a pass to class, which I was mOre than happy to give! ... man I hate it when stuff like that happens! Ya feel so... DUMB! I'm glad you're okay -- but at least ya got a "story" out of it!!!

Hope your knee is better today! I'm always doing things like that, running my mouth and walking at the same time which generally causes disaster.

Well, CB, I'm glad you at least had the box for an excuse...I use to be accused of tripping over my SHADOW on the linoleum! Hope you are on the mend today and off to a new adventure. xoxoxo

I'm sorry you feel down. I have reached the age where if I fall down Betty will have to call 911 to get me back on my feet. When I first came home from the hospital I did fall and she did call the police to get me back on my feet (its a small town and they have nothing to do).

I have to agree with cuppojoe, Quill. A good fall can be a thing of great humor! But only if the only thing truely damaged is pride. I hope next time you remember to take a video!
