Why is it that, even though I buy the same dang box, same dang brand, same dang number, I get a different hair color every time? Not only that, but Jaime says, "Oh, you've lightened your hair." And not ten minutes later Joe says, "Your hair's darker. It looks nice." Precious ten year-old Brandi was the kicker though. She scrunched up her nose, looked at me and said, "What happened to your hair?" "Happened?" I questioned. She shrugged her shoulders and grinned. "Oh well, Ms. Charlene, I love you anyway." And then she left me with a gooey tootsie pop kiss on my cheek. Lovely. I feel so much better now.

lol... the eyes of the beholder and all that! Lovely colour!
Katie -- I like it. And it isn't far from my previous color -- but the comments! Oh my! And this morning I have to face dozens of students with it. I will likely need ego armor!
I like it, really... but when I first looked at the pic I swear I thought it was a pic of AC's hair. lol
Brooke -- that's what I thought, too. I could do worse than looking like my beautiful sister, Caryl.
Just remember different isn't bad . It might even be good. You won at the Fortress today. Stop by and pic a prize.
Yeah, the honesty of children is sometimes less refreshing than at other times. Still, I think your hair looks pretty.
i agree with Doug! the color is beautiful. of course, as it happens, that's close to the shade of my own hair, but still...
and ya gotta love a gooey tootsie pop kiss. i don't think i've had one of those since my *own* kids were 10. sigh. xox
Charlie -- Brandi is adorabel, she has been in my Sunday School class since she was four.
Dr. John -- yahoo! I love winning!
Doug -- thank you, in my classroom this morning the kids exclaimed, "You painted your hair!"
Neva -- Brandi adores giving gooey kisses, candy, lipstick, whatever ....
Well... at least kids are honest in what they say! But like someone told me once; "All TRUTH is GOOD, but not ALL TRUTH should be SPOKEN!" I think it looks nice but then... I never saw it before! ~ jb///
I think it is lovely Quill. The reason that the color varies, is the different dye lots used. If it turns out nice one time, you need to buy the same lot number. (I know TMI)
My first visit...popped over from Minka's place...I can so relate to the hair color dilemma of what kind of surprise will be waiting for me once it dries...this time, the gray in the part is turning a nice shade of orange...just in time for Thanksgiving.
LZ -- wow! Long time no see! You should have been here with that little piece of advice a couple of days ago ...
Brian -- I knew that, but it wouldn't have set up my Brandi story very well, now would it?
Swampwitch -- welcome! So far my hair has never turned any terribly unacceptable colors. Of course now that I've said that ....
I think your hair looks nice, Quill.
And, am I ever glad I'm a guy...
honey that is gorgeous hair. it looks so soft and bouncy and the color is beautiful.
Wasn't it Art Linkletter who used to say "Kids say the darndest things". Kids are so innocent they usually speak the truth.
Hope you are staying warm.
Blessed day to you.
Last time I saw it, it was curly! It looks like you are growing it out too! I like it!
Al -- guys get perms and color their hair. Ask Minka, I'll bet she'll do yours for you!
Chana -- not soft. Looks can be deceptive.
Bill -- are you implying my hair looks bad?
Jaime! Yay! How are you doing? Did you see your name on my blog of people/things I am thankful for? I miss you.
I gave up on what people say about my hair long ago which is hard because when I was in high school, I had great hair. Now it is dull and lifeless....happened after my pregnancies, dang kids! But, now THEY have great hair!
Beautiful color! I think its a girl thing those "too honest" comments.
Lori -- while you were here, I was at your place! I don't think my hair is really that shiny -- it was the flash.
Kat -- and Brandi is about as straight forward as they come.
A friend of mine had a similar situation recently... One person said it was lighter and another said it was darker. I told her they were both right - it's just that the first person must've been looking at the roots and the second was referring to the rest of it. lol
Yep... that's why I quit doing it myself (since that meant that all the years of brown on brown on brown rendered my head the label of black and the lightening, aka bleaching, process fried my waist-long hair which is why it is so friggin' short now DAMMIT!) and only go to the salon now... I suck at the whole dye thing!
Oy!
But I LIKE the color!
Quill, regarding your comment to Al: Guys do not color or perm their hair. Gents do. I'm lucky to comb.
Rob -- must have been a very good friend, you're still here talking to me about it. I have a friend who teases me about being a dizzy blonde. I often protest that it's just dye because it tickles me no end when he says drily, "Trust me, it sinks in."
Miz B -- I only do it two or three times per year -- and I keep my hair reasonably short. When I had long hair how I treated it was a very different matter.
Doug -- that's funny. I got a similar reaction of disgust from OC the other night when I said something about a male colleague filing his fingernails (and at work, no less).
ABTF -- I still wish they were a bit more gentle with my ego.
Quill
I'd never imply anything bad about you.
Your hair looks shorter, don´t worry it´ll grow back :)
Minka -- one thing I can always count on is my hair growing!
Isn't it nice to be loved? ;)
